Exploring the Reserve
Perched at 3,116 ft (900 m) above sea level and surrounded by lower montane rainforest and cloud forest, Mashpi Lodge is home to vast flora: ferns, bromeliads, and orchids, many of these newly-discovered. Approximately 500 species of birds –around 36 of which are endemic– inhabit the Mashpi Reserve. It is also home to monkeys, peccaries, sloths, and even pumas.
Naturalist guides lead explorers on treks to various points of interest: the Life Center, Observation Tower, Sky Bikes, and Dragonfly Gondola; traversing gentle streams, refreshing waterfalls, and exciting terrain along the way. A full day at Mashpi allows for two activities (a.m. and p.m.) plus the chance to take part in a guided night walk.
Guests can enjoy a massage or treatment in the Spa, a delicious signature cocktail at the bar, or a soothing soak in the outdoor hot tub. Meals are included and feature locally-sourced ingredients and plenty of nutritious options for all types of diets.
The Lodge – Modern comfort, where cloud and rainforest meet
Mashpi Lodge has all the comforts of a stylish modern hotel in one of the most fascinating places on Earth! What makes it so special is not only its geographical location (Chocó Bioregion), but also its altitudinal one, where two principal ecosystems (cloud and rainforest) overlap to form one remarkable place.
Built with the latest techniques in sustainable processes, the lodge’s 23 rooms accommodate up to 48 guests. Yaku suites feature one king bed and an open concept that includes a soaking tub and views of the forest canopy. Wayra rooms have one king or two full beds, and floor-to-ceiling windows that keep you connected to the forest that surrounds.
The hotel has an outdoor yoga deck and hot tub, a reading lounge, a third floor observation deck, a full-service spa, and a boutique shop that sells hiking gear, local handicrafts, and much more!
Fine Dining in the Forest
The Lodge's towering, two-story dining room offers a dramatic setting. Chefs draw inspiration from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients to create healthy and delicious meals that can accommodate a variety of diets.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included. Guests can purchase signature tropical cocktails and natural energetic beverages, plus a full array of fine spirits, craft beers, and South American wines from the full-service bar.
