About Us

Welcome to our 500 Acre Playground

Carmel Valley Ranch is unlike any other resort you’ve been to. Sure, it’s a perfect place to let your shoulders rest, sit by the pool and enjoy the good life. But more importantly, this is the place where you’ll sneak away to tap into that elixir of life—play. All kinds of play, for all kinds of people.

We have a collection of indoor and outdoor facilities that no other resort can match. Programs and experiences designed specifically to help you rekindle romances, rethink companies, reconnect with friends and family, and of course, revive spirits.

Accommodations - Carmel Valley Ranch Offers 181 Spacious and Elegantly Appointed Guest Suites

Each of our newly renovated suites features cathedral ceilings, travertine fireplaces, comfortable custom-made furnishings, limestone bathrooms, private decks, and a soft, understated color scheme that complements the resort’s surroundings.

Dining - Come Play with Your Food

Good food isn't hard to come by in California, but no other resort combines the area's freshest and best ingredients, the acclaimed talents of Executive Chef Tim Wood, and the playful spirit that Carmel Valley Ranch is known for. Even Brussels sprouts taste good here.

Lodge Restaurant

Executive Chef Tim Wood’s culinary exploits—many involving fruits and vegetables from The Ranch’s Organic Garden—are on full display for breakfast, lunch and dinner in our Lodge Restaurant. Indoor, outdoor and lounge seating are all available.

River Ranch Cafe

The newest addition to The Ranch’s collection resides in The Ranch’s most historic building (132 years old). Join us poolside at the high-energy, family-oriented River Ranch for a mix of your favorite grill items, sandwiches, salads, sweets, coffee, smoothies, beer and wine. Order at the counter or browse our bountiful Grab ‘n Go selection; indoor and outdoor seating are both available.

Golf Clubhouse

Conveniently located near the 9th and 18th holes, our Golf Clubhouse offers light sandwiches, salads, and beer on tap. Ideal for a quick bite before or after your round.

Golf - Hit a Ball. Have a Ball

Naturally, we play the classics, too. Our 18-hole championship golf course designed by Pete Dye offers breathtaking views of the Valley, and is fun for golfers of all skill levels.

Spa - Relax, Rejuvenate, Renew

Our new, full-service Spa Aiyana is the perfect place to indulge in a luxurious treatment and relax among the treetops.

Play - So Many Ways To Play

From beekeeping to hilltop yoga to s’mores to distinguished fireside chats, we invite you to let your imagination run wild.

Best of the Best

When you visit Carmel Valley Ranch, plan to play — a lot — be it twirling on a tree swing, or swinging away on the Pete Dye–designed golf course (where you’ll likely encounter deer and a wild turkey or two). Spanning 500 acres of vineyards, lavender fields, scenic foothills and old-growth oaks, this sleek, 181-suite resort is all about pleasurable diversions. Hike the trails (they extend hundreds of miles), and practice your warrior pose on the hilltop yoga platform. Spend a day at the spa or in the hands-on Adventure Kitchen. Of course, there are plenty of activities for children, and for your four-legged friends as well.

Advisor Tip

Beehive experience is a must. You get suited up and learn about the queen bee, her helpers and the honey produced on property. Great activity for all ages. –Yvonne Verstandig Melbourne, Australia

A beautiful resort close by the town of Carmel and the scenery of Big Sur. The Carmel Valley Ranch is located perfectly for day trips, and if you don't want to go out, the resort offers you lots of choices!

Nice with glitches

By: Amyb

Reviewed on: 20 Mar 2015

We enjoyed our two days at Carmel Valley Ranch. The rooms were large and lovely. Important to know that this place is really spread out. It is also under construction so meals are in the Clubhouse which isn't that close to the rooms. The pool near the lodge is very nice but not much (any) staff around to help. Nice rooms, as a resort they need to get their act together a bit more.

Peace and Rest on a Long Road Trip

By: Caroline

Reviewed on: 16 Apr 2017

Sitting by the fireplace in our room, we marveled at how far we had driven, and had finally arrived at this resort for a bit of peace and quiet. We were not disappointed. The bed was comfortable, and the setting in the Carmel Valley is matchless. We wanted to stay longer and will definitely be back!

Beautiful setting and a staff that works hard to make sure you are happy with all aspects of your stay; accommodations, services, food. The real genius is the ability to entertain 3 generations so comfortably.

Nice property. Parts are a little dated but friendly staff and great for families. Would not recommend for couples or anyone who wants quiet. Lots of kids and babies so either bring yours or go elsewhere. Plenty of activities to do as a family

Too many service problems

By: Giandomenico Rende

Reviewed on: 27 Jun 2018

Our stay was a disaster......many, many problems with service.....quality of food deteriorating. We have been at the Ranch for over thirty years and everything is clearly getting worse. They are understaffed and the staff is poorly trained. Things got so bad that they did not charge us for a dinner and gave us a complimentary bottle of their top wine.
