See Sea Lions
Meet Curious Creatures In Their Natural Environment
About two hours by boat off the coast of Mexico’s La Paz, you’ll find Los Islotes, a pair of rocky outcroppings in the Sea of Cortez. Their claim to fame is a colony of 250 California brown sea lions, which live here year round. Many tour operators offer an opportunity to snorkel with these hulking beasts, which can weigh up to 1,000 pounds. For divers, there’s the added attraction of a rock arch and the chance to view underwater rock caves.
