A Beautiful Port
Here Lie Some Of The Origins Of Impressionism
Honfleur is mostly known for its beautiful port area, including houses with slate-covered frontages. The houses were often painted by artists such as Monet and Jongkind, and the école de Honfleur (Honfleur School) was one of the origin points of the Impressionist movement. The Sainte-Catherine church is also the largest church made entirely of wood anywhere in France.
