Monet's Center

Art Abounds, With One Central Figure

Monet lived in Giverny -- about a 46-mile train ride from Paris -- from 1883 until his death in 1926. His house and gardens are located here, as well as the Museum of Impressionisms, which focuses on all forms of Impressionist painting (Giverny had been the site of an American artists' colony around the turn of the 19th century). The water gardens at Monet's property are the inspiration for some of his most famed works.
