Enjoy a day immersed in the culture of Saga’s celebrated ceramics! Guests will travel out of Nagasaki by private vehicle to Arita, where pottery kilns have been in operation since the 17th century. “Arita-yaki” is a general term used for ceramics made in the Arita area of Saga Prefecture. Production of Arita-yaki began some 400 years ago and today it is recognized as the origin of Japanese pottery making. We will begin this day-long discovery of Arita-yaki pottery at Izumiyama Quarry, where high-quality clay was first dug here in the early 17th century. Today's Arita-yaki is made of clay from a number of different areas, but this site is well worth a visit. Next, we will make our way to the Kyushu Ceramic Museum. Here, guests will learn about the culture and history of not only Arita-yaki porcelain, but also ceramics and porcelain from all over Kyushu, especially Saga and Nagasaki prefectures. After a leisurely lunch, visit an Arita-yaki pottery kiln for a close-up look at how Arita-yaki is made and the many ceramic items available.

Experience the best of Pusan. No visit to Pusan is complete without including Yonggungsa Temple, the most beautiful and dramatically situated Buddhist temple in the country. Founded in 1376 by the revered Buddhist teacher Naong the temple is located along a long swath of coastline making it unique among all Korean temples which are typically built into or at the foot of a mountain. Our next stop will be at Igidae Park and Oryudo Skywalk which connects to Jangsanbong Peak famed for its towering rock cliffs. You will venture on a two kilometer (1.2 mile) walk for stunning views onto the cliffs. For some additional sea views, you will take a trek along the Oryudo Skywalk which is a translucent walkway that allows you to look down into the ocean. A thrilling perspective for any visitor.
