Jet Ski in Front of Table Mountain

An adrenaline fuelled morning on the back of a jet ski with breath taking views of Table Mountain and the city bowl.

Get an adrenaline-fuelled perspective of Cape Town as you drive a turbo powered jetski in Table Bay. You’ll also have the opportunity to spot dolphins and penguins (and the occasional sunfish if you’re lucky) up close and in person.

What to expect:

Start your day at the docks of the V&A Waterfront where you will meet your guide and instructor for the duration of the experience. Hop on board a rubber duck and make your way out of the harbour to Granger Bay in front of Cape Town Stadium, a short boat trip away.

Your jetski’s will be delivered to the boat and you’ll have an hour to enjoy playing around in the waves and exploring the coastline. Keep a lookout for dolphins, often spotted frolicking in the waves nearby.

When you’re done, your skipper will take you back to the V&A Harbour in his rubber duck and you’ll have a chance to dry off before you carry on with your day.

Half Day Constantia Winelands

A perfect chance for wine lovers to discover some of the finest wines South Africa has to offer.

The Constantia Winelands is a spectacular wine experience, taking you to a unique combination of century-old, established wine farms and new boutique estates in a setting of unsurpassed beauty and heritage.

What to expect

Departing from Cape Town, this tour heads south along the Peninsula towards Constantia, taking in spectacular views along the way. When you arrive, you’ll enjoy a tour of the famous Constantia wine ward, nestled on the southern slopes of the Table Mountain range, in the Constantia Valley.

The historic valley, with vineyards rooted in ancient soil clinging to the eastern slopes of the Constantiaberg Mountains, was home to 17th-century Dutch governor, Simon van der Stel's wine farm. Its legendary dessert wines graced the tables of the European monarchy in the 18th century. The vines benefit from the cool sea breezes blowing in from False Bay and the 1,000mm of annual rain which makes irrigation unnecessary.

Today it is home to a number of award-winning wine estates which continue the tradition of producing wines from classic European noble varieties. It is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of modern city life in a magnificent, mountainous countryside. Stroll through the beautiful grounds whilst tasting wines produced just a short walk away, or meander through the rolling vineyards on your bicycle, learning first hand about the various vintages.

The area is celebrated for its Sauvignon Blancs, Semillons and Chardonnays, from the Steenberg, Constantia Uitsig and Buitenverwachting estates. However, wonderful Merlots, Cabernet, Shiraz and red blends in classic Bordeaux styles are also made at Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia and High Constantia. The area's famed signature wine, however, is still the exquisite Vin de Constance from Klein Constantia. This is a world class destination not to be missed.

The farms vary greatly and no farm is more than 5 or 10 minutes from the next with many linked by cycle and hiking tracks. For a sense of history we’ll pay a visit to Constantia Glen before heading to Steenberg wine estate, to take part in a privately guided Terroir Walk on the which will give you a better understanding of the land and the wine making process which the farm adopts in an environmentally considerate farming practice as far as possible.

We will then head up over the Mountain to the Silvermine Nature Reserve. A real gem mostly frequented by locals getting away from the city's hustle and bustle. Enjoy the tranquil setting, take a refreshing dip in the dam and time allowing, go for a hike on one of the many trails in this reserve. BENGUELA DIAMOND SAFARI - FULL DAY

This unique trip, the first of its kind in South Africa, has been curated as a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Guests get to follow the journey of an ocean diamond from its humble origin beneath the surface of the sea into a symbol of love and beauty. This exciting experience, exclusive to Ellerman House guests, is particularly attractive to couples planning an engagement or celebrating a special anniversary.

Guests are collected from Ellerman House by chauffeured limousine and transferred to Cape Town International Airport, where they are welcomed on board a luxurious Pilatus PC12 jet or Kingair 200 aircraft, before taking off towards the diamond fields on the west coast of South Africa. The scenic flight takes approximately one hour and 15 minutes to Port Nolloth. There’s time to drink a toast to the journey before landing and being welcomed by the host from Benguela Diamonds. The private home-away-from-home base for the day is a luxurious, contemporary villa on the coast, directly in front of Benguela Diamonds private diamond mining concession.

Enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of freshly pressed fruit and vegetable juice, followed by breakfast at the Villa while the Benguela Diamonds host outlines the day’s activities. It is then time to head out on the diamond safari. Once the boats are moored beyond the treacherous breakers, guests are invited to join the Benguela Diamonds dive masters beneath the ocean. The only requirements are a current PADI Open Water one certificate and a sense of adventure. The dive is an entry level one, in fairly shallow water. Divers are kitted out with all the diving equipment required to ensure a warm, comfortable and safe experience. Guests may choose to stay on the boat.

Trained master divers operate giant suction pipes to pump the seabed gravel into a classifier that separates the larger stones from the gravel. The remaining gravel is then ‘jigged’ which means that the diamonds are sorted from the gravel using a vibrating pan system. The heavier stones, such as garnets, olivines and diamonds, fall into the pan. After the boat trip, enjoy a gourmet lunch, prepared by an Ellerman House chef on the terrace of the villa. The gourmet lunch of your choosing is paired with award-winning South African wines, handpicked from Ellerman House’s exceptional wine collection.

It is then time to take a closer look at the morning’s rich pickings. While examining a selection of rough, uncut diamonds with a sorting expert from the company, you will learn more about the meticulous grading of diamonds. This is the moment to select a rough diamond. It only takes three consecutive working days to get a diamond cut and polished and a piece of jewellery designed, made and certified. By late afternoon, guests are on their way back to Cape Town on their private aircraft. As the sun sinks into the ocean at Ellerman House, guests end the day by indulging in the hotel’s signature Dom Pérignon Experience paired to a delicious bento box-style dinner prepared by the executive chef.
