After breakfast, head to Wat Athvea Pagoda, located in the Angkor Archaeological Park. Take a walking tour, meet the monks, who have built a small school in the pagoda, and receive a traditional Khmer Water Blessing from them. Then, it's on to Tonle Sap Lake. Board a small shaded vessel to explore the floating homes and small fish farms on the lake. Drive back to the hotel for lunch and free time until you are transferred to the airport. (Includes breakfast and lunch); Please note: Bring your hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, insect repellent and comfortable walking shoes. When visiting the temples, shoulders and legs must be covered and no shorts will be allowed. This tour is not wheelchair accessible and is not suitable for people with mobility issues. Deposit and Final Payment Requirements:

An immediate deposit of 15% of booking total is required within three days of booking to secure a reservation. Final payment is due 90 days prior to the departure date. Your documents are usually received 30 days prior to departure. Travel documents, however, are only issued after final payment has been received by Windstar. Send all payments to Windstar Cruises, 2101 4th Avenue, Suite 210, Seattle, WA 98121 U.S.A. Payment is also welcome by American Express, Visa, or MasterCard. For faster processing, please include a confirmation number on your check. All charges are in USD. Windstar is not liable for any currency exchange rate or foreign exchange fee imposed by the account holder& bank or credit card company. Payment of the cruise deposit and Travel Protection Plan (if applicable) constitutes a binding of the Terms & Conditions as attached. Late Booking Policy: On bookings within 45 days of departure, Windstar Cruises requires final payment before the process of requesting air or hotel space. All bookings made 14 days of departure will be booked as cruise only. Documents for bookings made within 14 days will be emailed to all passengers.

Singles:

Single occupancy of a stateroom is 175% of the published per-person stateroom cruise fare (200% of suites) and is subject to availability.

Change Fees:

Changing your itinerary after reservations have been made can result in loss of advantages gained by early planning. To cover administrative costs, a minimum charge of $50 per person will be assessed if you request a change in your travel arrangements. If such change involves a change of date of departure and occurs less than ninety (90) days prior to departure date, then the applicable cancellation fees for released cruise space will also be charged.

Cancellation Policy:

A full refund (except for the amounts paid for Cancellation Protection Plan and the $50 per person fee) will be made for written cancellations received by Windstar Cruises at least 121 days prior to the date on which you are to commence travel by any mode of transportation booked through Windstar Cruises (air, sea, or land).

Guests who cancel after that date for any reason, including medical or family reasons, are subject to the following cancellation schedule:

  • 120-90 days before commencing travel - 15% of gross fare (deposit);
  • 89-60 days before commencing travel - 35% of gross fare;
  • 59-30 days before commencing travel-50% of gross fare;
  • 29-0 days before commencing travel - 100% of gross fare.

Fees are due regardless of resale.

Portals of the past

Start off at the Civilian War Memorial, a structure dedicated to all those who perished during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore. Continue with a scenic drive around the Civic District, passing by the Padang, Singapore Cricket Club, historic Parliament House, Supreme Court and City Hall. Stop by the Lim Bo Seng Memorial, and let our guide narrate the story of this anti-Japanese resistance fighter.En route to Kranji war Memorial cementery dedicated to the men and women from United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka, India, Malaya, the Netherlands and New Zealand who died defending Singapore and Malaya against the invading Japanese forces during World War II, it comprises the War Graves, the Memorial Walls, the State Cemetery, and the Military Graves.

Then, rekindle the memories at the Old Ford Factory. This historical building was the site where the British surrendered to the Japanese on 15 February 1942. A permanent exhibition gallery showcasing the memories of life during the Japanese Occupation was developed by the National Archives of Singapore. MOFF also houses the repositories of NAS.

Lastly, you will come to The Changi Chapel and Museum. Relocated in February 2001, it was built to honour the spirit and commitment of those who rose from the depths of adversity.

The excursion is comprised of several stops, each of which will give you a window into the past life here. The first is right in the local heartlands where one of the largest Bird Singing corners is located. In this spot, birds actually get to practice their vocal chords and give you a chance to chat with the 'uncles', the owners who love their birds. If you have ever watched Lion Dances and noticed the incredible colorful Lion Heads? One of the last remaining craftsmen who still makes these Lion Heads out of his home is one of your visits. It will not be long before these will no longer be created and on your visit you can order one of these beautifully crafted heads, though no pressure to do so. This is more about the exposure of a dwindling art.

Every think about incense sticks and how they are made, particularly those giant ones at the Chinese temples? Find out more about their history and creation right from the horse's mouth. If you wish, you can even try your hand and use the raw materials to fashion your own scented stick.

Finally you will be introduced to the 'master' craftsman who makes some of the most gorgeous lanterns by hand. This master artist provides the lanterns for numerous Chinese temples and Clan associations. These lanterns are all constructed of paper and the 'factory' you visit has an array of paper offerings that are commonly sold as donations at temples all over the world. These offerings are used as burnt for the Gods, Ancestors, and Ghosts, for good fortune and good health. No doubt you will want to select some pieces as perfect souvenirs to take home. At the least, you will bring back an incredible understanding of the culture and talent of the Singaporeans.

Tour Award Winning Public Housing In Singapore
Singapore was once known to have the worst slums in the world. Today the public housing program is a source of national pride. Singapore's Housing and Development Board (HDB) has now received 3 UN awards over the last 25 years and over 80% of Singapore's resident population has called HDB flats home. On this tour you will really be immersed in the culture of the country as you learn the hows and whys of public housing policies that have proven successful.

On the first part of the tour you will find yourself with your outstanding guide in Toa Payoh, one of the first public housing projects in the country. Here you will visit the Hub of Public Housing and see the mock up of various apartments. As you view them, you will hear why they are considered more like a 'marriage proposition' than a lease agreement. As one of Singapore’s oldest housing estates, Toa Payoh was the first to benefit from the Estate Renewal Strategy – an integrated and systematic approach to rejuvenate older HDB towns, making them more comparable with newer estates. The estate renewal efforts revitalized Toa Payoh, and the pioneer HDB town is a vibrant place today.

On the second part of this tour you will visit the tallest public housing in Singapore - and in the world! It is called Pinnacle@Duxton and this award-winning development features the world's two longest sky gardens. One of the highlights of this tour is to see the inside of a 4-room HDB flat within the development. You will also visit the sky bridge on the 50th floor where you will be a wonderful view of the central part of Singapore.

Though the subject matter of this tour may sound more like a thesis, in today's modern world, you will see how Singapore has handled a problem that every country, and every major city is faced with.
