Malaga Half Day Tour

Meet your English speaking guide in the lobby of your Malaga hotel (or cruise), your top local guide and driver with Mercedes Sedan will be waiting to take you for a short panoramic drive then onto the new Picasso Museum housed in the Palacio de Buenavista (closed on Mondays).

The permanent collection includes many works by the artist and an autographed copy of his biography donated by Jaime Sabartés who was Picasso’s secretary until the artist’s death. Continue to the Picasso Foundation to see Picasso's birth home (from the outside only) , then  continue in the Old Quarter where we will visit the Alcazaba. The Alcazaba in Málaga, Spain is a Moorish fortification dating from the 8th century although much of it was built around the middle of the 11th century for King Badis of Granada and served as the palace of the governors of the city. It is the best-preserved alcazaba (from the Arabic for citadel al-qasbah) in Spain. Next to the entrance to the Alcazaba are the ruins of the Roman amphitheatre dating to the 2nd century which is undergoing restoration. Some of the Roman materials were used in the construction of the Alcazaba.

Time permitting you may also visit the Wine Museum; its social history and customs, or the collection of 19th-century paintings at the new Carmen Thyssen museum; and its famous local personalities, such as the painter Felix Revello del Toro.
