Shark cage diving

Stare into the eyes of an apex predator

The day begins at the quaint coastal village of Gansbaai, at the Great White House, where a decadent breakfast awaits before heading off to an action packed day. As safety is paramount, divers will be inducted with a brief introductory talk given by a marine biologist, before being fitted with life-jackets.

This adventure is ideal for thrill-seekers and nature enthusiasts. Take in the excitement and heart pounding experience of being face-to-face with a spine chilling great white shark, protected only by the steel rungs of a submerged cage.

Magnificent and possibly terrifying shark viewing awaits you at Shark Alley. A deep blue channel of water this menacing pathway is situated between two islands, namely Dyer Island and Geyser Rock. Home to over 60 000 Cape Fur seals Dyer Island provides bountiful hunting opportunities for this apex predator.

Gansbaai boasts the largest population of these warm-blooded great whites and there are sublime sightings all year round. Other wildlife species such as Cape Gannets, Cape Cormorants, African Penguins, whales and dolphins are also likely to be sighted in the vast liquid expanse.

If you choose not to descend into the depths of the ocean, you can view the sightings from the safety of the shark viewing deck on the boat. As white sharks are surface feeders you are assured to gasp at hulking swishes of tail, whirling waters, and the ever present Jaws theme tune humming in your head as you spot a Dorsal fin gliding out of the water. This is a chilling experience to get up close and personal with these sleek, daredevil creatures.
