Great Wagyu Adventure

This unique tour incorporates three iconic Australian experiences in two states (South Australia and Victoria) all in the one day. In just 50 minutes from Melbourne, Victoria you will land amongst the vines of the Coonawarra in South Australia and be whisked across to Wynns Estate for a behind the scenes tour. Then slip into a lab coat to try your hand at wine making.

Next stop, the multi award winning Mayura Station in Millicent. Owner Scott deBruin purchased their first live full-blood Wagyu cattle from Japan in 1998 with a vision of producing and marketing highly consistent, premium quality Wagyu beef. Today their 7,000-strong herd is raised on a 6000-acre property located in the heart of South Australia’s Limestone Coast. Here, you will enjoy a 4 course lunch showcasing the diversity of this premium beef product. Each course is matched with a museum release Coonawarra fine wine.

The return trip completes this memorable experience with a scenic orbit of the iconic 12 Apostles along the Great Ocean Road.

Mornington Peninsula’s newest world-class destination is Jackalope, incorporating Willow Creek Vineyard, the Rare Hare restaurant with executive chef Guy Stanaway, and the stunning Jackalope Hotel. After enjoying a private winery tour and barrel room tastings with a Jackalope host, a two-course share menu lunch of the chef’s daily selection is served in Rare Hare with matched wine. After lunch, your host will tour you through the Hotel’s diverse art collection.

The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure, sample more fine wine or try something a little different with a visit to the Main Ridge Dairy, Red Hill Cheese or Mornington Peninsula Chocolates.

Travel 1.5 hours from Melbourne city and be taken to the rich, fertile farming region of the Otways in South Western Victoria, where members of the Dennis family will extend a warm welcome to their heritage working sheep farm “Tarndwarncoort” - more affectionately known as ‘Tarndie’. Tarndwarncoort is one of Victoria’s oldest surviving homesteads, and is the continuation of one of Australia’s oldest family farms. Today, the Dennis family still today grows Polwarth wool from Australia’s first breed of sheep which originated at Tarndie in the 1880’s.

Learn the ebb and flow of Australia’s pastoral heritage directly from the Dennis family and explore the homestead and surrounding property.
