A&K Private Great Ocean Road Drive/Shared Fly Full Day

Meet your A&K driver/guide in the hotel lobby and depart on your full day private tour of the Great Ocean Road.

Get the best of both worlds. Travel the most scenic part of the Great Ocean Road on the ground before taking to the skies. After a relaxing one and a half hour drive from Melbourne, get an insight into Australian surfing culture at Bells Beach, with rugged cliffs and big waves. Visit the historic Split Point Lighthouse in Aireys Inlet, which is credited with saving hundreds of ships and thousands of lives along Australia’s treacherous ‘shipwreck coast’.

Soak up the atmosphere of Victoria’s premier holiday town, Lorne before marvelling at the cliff-hugging road that stretches between Lorne and Apollo Bay. It’s one of the most spectacular roads in the world, home to monstrous cliffs, roaring seas, tranquil coves, and secluded beaches. En route, visit the wild koalas of Kennett River and get acquainted with some of Australia’s most colourful birds. We’ll also step off the beaten track for a 30 minute walk to Sheoak Falls. Hidden off the Great Ocean Road, the falls are a quiet surprise – after a short ascension the falls are located at the head of a shallow gorge.

Enjoy a unique gourmet lunch of local seafood and produce, set outdoors in a secluded setting. Your guide will select the location according to your tastes.

Next it is time to climb aboard your shared fixed-wing aircraft and take one of the world’s truly great scenic flights. For the rest of the Road you’ll be flying high. Enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the Twelve Apostles, Moonlight Head, The Cape Otway Light station, Gibson’s Steps and Loch Ard Gorge before a gentle touch down back in Apollo Bay.

Travel through the majestic Otway Ranges on your way back to Melbourne where the tour will conclude at your accommodation.

Made In Melbourne

Your Made in Melbourne tour begins outside of Jewell Railway Station in Brunswick. (If you arrive early, nip over to Nice One coffee for delicious, locally roasted coffee.) This suburb is known for its laidback, offbeat vibe, and its multicultural crowd.

Your first set of stops will be at Melbourne “op shops” (North Americans know them as a “thrift stores”). Explore the bustling op shop scene as your guide helps you to design a totally new look.

Next, you’ll meet local fashion designers who make clothing in and around the shops where they sell their unique designs.

Your tour will also lead you down one of Melbourne’s most exciting roads, lined with Victorian architecture and a plethora of locally owned shops. Your guide will take you to meet a variety of shop owners who will share stories of their passion with you.

Later, discover a comic book store where all the books are hand-drawn on site, then nip around the corner to find a shop making custom tote bags from those same comic books.

Toward the end of your tour, you may be working up a hunger, so your guide will be happy to recommend a great spot for lunch.

The Boroughs Of Melbourne
In the rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne it's the various boroughs of Victoria's coastal capital that makes Melbourne the champion. During the Golden Age of the city, rival communities started to rise side by side and distinctions emerged. Class, nationality, religion and tradition were often at odds and eventually played out into the food, architecture and sports rivalries at the local pubs. Each neighborhood is as lively as ever before and your local guide will showcase some of the most interesting aspects on this flexible tour.

St. Kilda is one of the most popular day spots with its seaside location and influences from Eastern Europe to 80's punk rock. Imagine the combination of Coney Island and New Orleans with Australian flair. The perfect location to see one of the world's oldest roller coasters and sample the best cheesecake in the city. In South Melbourne you will explore where young professionals cut deals in local coffee shops famous for their perfectly brewed roasts. Sample some dim sim on a walk through the South Melbourne Market.

In places like Richmond, Collingwood and Fitzroy you will walk through areas that have emerged from humble pasts that now stand as some of Melbourne's greatest treasures.

The day is yours to explore the boroughs as you please, with the help of your guide.

Melbourne's Jewish Heritage
With dozens of beautiful synagogues, leading day schools, museums and cultural institutions, the Melbourne Jewish community is both fascinating and thriving. The locals love to share their stories which is a key aspect in making the community the vibrant group it is today. Traditions from its mostly European past has made them an integral part of the local "fruit salad" which is a term they find more fitting than "melting pot."

Your tour will begin with visits to a couple of the city's oldest synagogues to learn about early Jewish migration to Australia and the freedom of religion, which has always been enjoyed in the country. Exclusive access is provided through your guide's connections within the community and provides a fascinating look into the Jewish culture that most travelers won't have access to.

A visit to the Arts precinct will teach you how the many Jewish patrons have been instrumental in shaping the city's cultural scene. This can especially be seen in places like South Yarra and Toorak which are the oldest and original Jewish-Anglo communities. Several Jewish Schools will pop up as you journey south towards Caulfield and Balaclava.

At Balaclava Road and Carlisle Street, where Jewish life is the cultural dominant force, you will have some time to visit kosher bakeries and delis for a chance to chat with the locals. Once in St. Kilda the influence of Ashkenazi migration can be found in the many Eastern-European cake shops that line the seaside-shopping strip.

The final stop of your exploration will be at the Jewish Museum of Australia to meet volunteers from the community, providing perfect insight into this dynamic culture.

Melbourne City Overview

The Best Of The Yarra Valley
When it comes to day trips from Melbourne, the Yarra Valley is the gold standard and it all starts with its world-famous wineries. Just a short drive from Melbourne, it's easy to understand why visitors frequent this area with its picturesque backdrop of the Yarra Ranges and renowned wineries and restaurants around every bend. Good food, better wine, and beautiful landscapes are a few of the things that make life worthwhile, so, unless you enjoy being unhappy, it would be a good idea to explore one of Australia's best destinations.

With a private guide and vehicle, you will avoid the crowds and head to some of the tastiest wineries in the entire valley. You will start your day with a behind-the-scenes barrel room tasting, accompanied by locally-grown produce at the Dominique Portet vineyard. This family has been making wine for 10 generations and is a household name within Victorian wine circles. Often it's the people behind the wines that make the tastings so enjoyable and these guys couldn't be more passionate about what they do. This inside look sets the perfect tone as you venture out to other boutique wineries for additional tastings throughout the valley. A stop will also be made at a beautiful vineyard restaurant for a 2-course lunch that is good enough to make you wonder why wine overshadows the area's culinary achievements. If there is a certain wine that really peaks your interest, make sure to alert your guide and they will do their best to cater to your interests as you enjoy this perfect taste of the valley away from the crowds.

It wouldn't be a journey to Australia without getting up-close-and-personal with some of its famous animals. Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary is a not-for-profit organization that has education programs and an on-site recovery facility for threatened species. Take advantage of the chance to feed some kangaroos and learn about the defense mechanisms of wombats. A photo opportunity with a koala will be hard to pass up and we give you permission to be as shameless as possible when demonstrating your excitement.

Wine, food, and koalas. What more do you need?

Phillip Island And The Penguin Parade
If you can see penguins, seals and koalas wandering around your hometown, then this tour isn't for you. If you are like most of us and have only seen these creatures on Animal Planet, then we recommend you sign up for this ASAP. Rocky shorelines will pave the way as you approach Phillip Island and the natural wonders that it has to offer.

At the iconic Koala Conservation Center you will explore the treeline through a series of boardwalks that provide a glimpse into the habitat of Koalas.
