Bid au revoir to Paris as you board your TGV high-speed train that will whisk you away to Luxembourg, one of Europe's last independent duchies. Enjoy a guided walking tour as well as a stop at the American Cemetery and Memorial, the final resting place of General George Patton, before boarding your luxury ship. (B,D)

Bernkastel-kues, Germany

Trier, Germany's oldest city, has often been referred to as the second Rome. Be guided to the Roman Imperial Baths, Porta Nigra, and Emperor Constantine's Throne Room. During the afternoon, sail the Moselle River to Bernkastel, strategically located in the middle of the Moselle Valley's wine-producing region. Walk through the colorful Old Town center and past many medieval buildings before enjoying a wine tasting at a local winery. (B,L,D)

Lahnstein, Germany

History comes to life in Cochem with its half-timbered houses and Reichsburg Castle. Join a guided tour through the castle, situated high above the town, and then walk through its Old Town. For those wishing to have a more active exploration of the area, you can go on a guided hike to the castle. Or for a different adventure, explore the Bundesbank-Bunker to get a closer look at this mysterious Cold War-era bank vault. Later in the day, sail along the Moselle taking in the fascinating scenery of Europe's steepest vineyards before arriving in the AmaWaterways-owned port of Lahnstein where you can enjoy a visit to Lahneck Castle. Rüdesheim am Rhein, Germany

Cruise along the scenic Rhine River Gorge with its fabled legends and many castles dotting high above its riverbank. Once in Rüdesheim, you will have three choices of excursions. Take a gondola ride to the Niederwalddenkmal Statue, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the river. Afterwards, indulge your taste buds with a sampling of Riesling wines in the vineyards. Alternatively, you can join a guided bike tour through the town and along the Rhine River; or hike to Ehrenfels Castle, idyllically situated in the midst of the vineyards. Later in the day, you have two more excursions. Visit Siegfried's Mechanical Music Museum or taste one of the town's special delights, Rüdesheimer Kaffee, ceremoniously made with brandy. (B,L,D)

Discover a grand Baroque palace, one of Mark Twain's favorite European towns, or one of the most whimsical gardens in the Europe on choice of excursions. Relive a bygone era on an excursion to the glorious Baroque Mannheim Palace. Tour this splendid palace furnished with over 800 exhibits, including 21 large tapestries, ornate furniture, priceless paintings, valuable porcelain, and costly silverware. Prefer to visit the town Mark Twain fell in love with and join on a tour to Heidelberg, a perfectly preserved medieval city nestled in the Neckar River Valley along Germany's Castle Road. You'll see the red-walled castle with its Great Vat, an 18th-century 49,000-gallon wine cask, and the old city. Alternatively, visit Schwetzingen Palace Gardens, a cultural heritage site of European significance. Wander through the gardens with more than 100 sculptures and admire an assortment of whimsical buildings. The Apollotempel, houses a statue of the ancient Greek god of light and the arts, playing the lyre; the Badhaus, a summerhouse modelled on an Italian villa; and the most spectacular, the Türkischer Garten with a mosque designed by Nicolas de Pigage, the largest structure of its kind in a German garden—are a few of the many highlights you will see. Strasbourg, the capital city of Alsace, has flavors of both France and Germany because of its borderline location, which you'll get to discover. Enjoy a panoramic bus tour past the stunning Parc de l'Orangerie, the European Parliament, and the Place de la République followed by a walking tour through its iconic "La Petite France" district, which appears to have been lifted straight from the pages of a fairytale. You'll also see the Cathédrale Notre-Dame with its famous astronomical clock. The active adventurer can join a guided Old Town bike tour, which also takes you through the Parc de l'Orangerie. Step back in time with a visit to Riquewihr, a charming medieval hamlet that looks almost the same as it did in the 16th century. On your walking tour, admire historic architecture and surrounding vineyards as well as famous sights, such as the Dolder Tower. Alternatively, you may wish to go to Freiburg, founded in 1120 and home to the Freiburg's Münster, a Gothic cathedral said to have "the most beautiful spire on earth". Those wishing a more active excursion can cycle through the scenic countryside. Later in the day, sail to Basel where you will have leisure time to explore the city. (B,L,D)

Disembark the ship and board a motorcoach to Zurich. En route, stop in Lucerne where you will visit the Lion Monument and take a walking tour before enjoying a leisurely cruise across the tranquil waters of Lake Lucerne to Vitznau. Here you will board a motorcoach for a scenic drive through the countryside, before arriving in Zurich and checking into your hotel. (B)

Set alongside a gleaming lake and framed by the Alps, Switzerland's largest city, Zurich, seamlessly blends its historic past with its progressive future—all of which will be on full display during your city tour. See Grossmünster Abbey, Old Town, Town Hall, Fraumünster Abbey, and St. Peter Church, which boasts the world's largest church clock face. (B)

Brochure prices are per-person, U.S. dollars, based on double occupancy of a cabin, or standard hotel room, unless indicated otherwise. | Single rates are available for the cruise-only, at a supplement of plus-50% for standard rooms, plus-100% for other rooms, such as deluxe rooms and suites. | Single rates for land are available at a supplement. | Please see individual itineraries for amount of the supplement. | Pricing accuracy is assured only at time of printing. | If any of the cost factors increases, such as airfare, port or dock charges, fuel, insurance, taxes, surcharges or other, we reserve the right to increase cruise or cruise tour prices without notice.

Cancellation Policy: For any cruise/land booking, whether under deposit, partially paid, or paid in full, including air packages, the following travel agent or guest-requested situations are considered cancellations and penalties will apply as noted below: changes to departure date; substitutions of itinerary; substitution of another person for original booked guest(s); or changing to a promotional fare. All cancellations must be in writing. For all air-inclusive packages cancelled after issuance of an airline ticket, the air portion of the refund, if any, will be processed only after the return of airline ticket. The following cancellation charges will be assessed for all written cancellations received prior to departure up to the scheduled time of departure.

Cancellation received | Following charges will apply: (Broken out by days before departure) 121 days or more is $200 per person | 120-90 days is $400 per person | 89-60 days is 35% of full fare | 59-30 days is 50% of full fare | 29-7 days is 80% of full fare | 6 days prior to sailing is 100% cancellation. Full Fare is defined as the full cost of any cruise, land or air component purchased from AmaWaterways. All air purchased through AmaWaterways has a cancellation penalty of $350 per person for Economy and $600 per person for Business class. In the event you purchase a non-refundable ticket, the full fare is under penalty.

*Certain airline tickets, including all intra-Asia Flights within 90 days of departure and published price tickets, are 100% non-refundable. Penalty rates shown are for flight arrangements deposited/booked from July 1, 2014 onward. Except as otherwise provided in your Passenger Ticket Contract, after travel begins, there is no refund for unused services, or unused portions of cruise, cruise/tour or airfare.
