Most of my career was spent in the television industry, making documentaries for The Weather Channel, The Travel Channel and others. (Yup -- that nut shooting video in the middle of Hurricane Hugo? That was me!) The best part about my work was getting to travel all over the world, meet amazing people, and experience their world, through their eyes. Once, while producing a show on climate change, I spent a week in the Mexican desert with scientists from The University of Arizona, digging for the remains of the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. What an astonishing experience! Putting that experience on tape, telling that story for all the world to watch... I felt like that professor every student wants to have a beer with after class. I was Indiana Jones!
all good things must end. And when my first career ended, I wanted a
second career that offered me the same opportunity to share the sheer wonder
of our world with others. A career that offered the same level of
fascination, learning, adventure, and just plain fun. And then it hit
me. Travel! Travel that expands horizons. Travel that gives your
children experiences they'll use every day in school, that they'll
remember all their lives. Travel that... ok, let's admit it... travel
that puts a smile on your face when that guy at a cocktail party brags,
"We just spent a week on the best cruise ship!" Because you know your vacation was sooo much better.
But... how could I ever organize fascinating travel experiences for
people who love history? Who love foreign cultures? Who read The Da Vinci Code as an invitation? Who love archaeology, and anthropology, and science, and great literature? How?!?!
Well... Turns out it's all about who you know. How about a fossil dig in Africa, with a member of the Leakey family!? Yeah. Really. We can do that. We can send you on that "Journey Beyond the Ordinary"!
How about a personal tour of a 1,000-year-old cistern under Istanbul?
Once the crossroads of the world, the setting for a hundred mystery
novels - Istanbul! We can put you there, with a personal guide, and a boat, and a torch that you'll pray doesn't snuff out. That's the kind of travel we offer. And if you've read this far, that's the kind of travel you want.
Now don't get me wrong, we can arrange any kind of travel you like. Cruises, all-inclusive resorts, group tours, we do it all. But... you can have "All the Free Shrimp You Can Eat"... or you can have an experience that you and your children will remember for a lifetime.
Don't waste another vacation lying on a lounge and calling for cocktails. Your time -- your family's time -- is too precious.
