Jayne Withers
Originally from Lancashire, England, I began traveling seriously as a student of Modern and Medieval Languages at Cambridge University. Before graduating, I spent summers working in Madrid and Palma de Mallorca, attended Arabic language courses in Cairo, and lived in the Sudan for a year, teaching English.
After college, I worked for a company that published in-cabin magazines for cruise lines operating in the Caribbean. During this time I was based in St. Martin and Miami while traveling extensively in Europe and the Caribbean. Later I became associate publisher of Caribbean Travel & Life magazine, and the publisher of American Eagle’s inflight magazine, Latitudes (back when we still had inflights!).
I took a year's sabbatical to study wellness in New York City, becoming a certified classical Pilates instructor, integrative nutrition health coach, and corporate wellness coach. At that point, I decided to combine wellness and travel so I set up a consultancy for companies that have mobile work forces to keep them healthy on the road. Presenting at NASA was one of the most exciting highlights of that pre-COVID time.
In 2023, I became a luxury travel advisor at ILX Travel, while continuing to pursue my goal of combining wellness and travel. I curate high-end trips all over the world for discerning travelers. Plus, I personally lead bespoke retreats to the best wellness resorts in the world.
My husband is a chef, so we like to view the world food-first when we travel together. Every year we pick one or two exciting culinary-focused trips and invite clients to join us.
I am the author of Mile High & Healthy: The Frequent Traveler’s Roadmap to Eating, Exercise, Energy and a Balanced Life (Story Farm, November 2015), hailed by Forbes.com as "A breakthrough book (...) taking the reader on a variety of journeys discussing everything from the physiological impacts of travel to detailed analysis of how travelers can wrest control of the chaos that constitutes today's business trip.".
I'm a very proud member of the Virtuoso Culinary and Wellness communities. This helps me continue to share my passion for both foodie and wellness-focused travel while partnering with the very best properties and travel partners in the world.
