I love traveling and I also love to plan and research – a winning combination for a Travel Advisor! My all-time favorite experience was a family trip to bring our college son to his study abroad location of Athens, Greece. It began with a stay in Rome in a boutique hotel near Piazza Navona, private tours of iconic sites like the Vatican and the Colosseum, tiny out of the way local restaurants and lots of delicious pizza, wine and gelato. We boarded a ship in Civitavecchia and set sail on a 7-night Mediterranean cruise with port stops in Sicily, Montenegro and the Greek islands of Crete and Corfu. In each port stop, we spent the day with a mix of independent exploration and privately guided experiences, discovering unique aspects of each destination. Upon arrival in Athens, we enjoyed another boutique hotel with a rooftop restaurant and pool that had inspiring views of the Acropolis. We spent several days exploring the city, marveling at the sights and sounds in Monastiraki, the flea market neighborhood in the old town of Athens, discovering the best souvlakis, eating endless amounts of fresh tomato and feta salads and enjoying the friendliness of the local Greeks. It was a truly memorable vacation that we’ll treasure forever.
