Why I Choose to Serve as a Travel Consultant
I am renewed and refreshed by great travel experiences: waking to the sun rising on the peaks of Torres del Paine, seeing Old Faithful erupt standing by ourselves, photographing landscapes and wildlife, touring wine regions near and far.
Stephen Covey in 7 Habits of Highly Successful People, included “Sharpening the Saw”. It is very much an individual preference; but, for me being close to nature and its beauty works well.
I seek to help clients discover the experiences that will excite them, create bonds with those for whom they care, allow them the chance to return with restored purpose, and having found memories which they will long treasure.
Process is the key to achieving great results consistently. It starts with conversation—asking the right questions and listening actively to explore the traveler’s mindsets and goals for each journey.
My role is to provide the expertise, the knowledge, the research skills to locate specialized information and to amplify this with access to networks of experts proximate to the relevant locales and experiences desired.
We then weave all this together to match your desires, budget, and valuations to create sequences of splendid days—splendid in your eyes.My Background
This is a second career for me, after retiring from a successful career as a corporate executive with a publically traded industrial company. While I had a general management role in the past 15 years, my experience has included managing sales, marketing, customer service, information technology, government affairs, and corporate education.
Others consider me very good at solving problems, mentoring associates, and being a “quick study” in approaching new topics or challenges.
In addition to the vacation travel which I loved planning, I also traveled extensively for business—sometimes to visit customers and vendors; but, frequently I was invited to conference programs usually in resort facilities.
I got my undergraduate degree from MIT and later obtained my MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. I believe in lifelong learning and enjoy immersing myself in mastering new subjects.
My wife, Kathy, and I will celebrate our 40th anniversary shortly. We have resided in California for over 30years, near some of the best wine country in the world.
