Vicky Malakoff, the founder of Destination: Uncharted has been a lifelong fearless explorer who's traveled the world many times over. Imagine being a 5-year-old member of an expatriate family living in Nigeria where a family vacation was a safari adventure in which you were egged on by your mom to stand just steps away from a elephant for a terrifying snapshot with your brother. Or maybe your mother is aiming her camera to photograph a giraffe in Kenya and she “accidentally” captures a perfect shot of Mount Kilimanjaro in the background. Perhaps you travel to Turkey where you have the juxtaposition of the bustling bazaars of modern Turkey with the Greek ruins of Ephesos. There you reflect on how you are walking over the same flagstones that Greek soldiers trod some 2,000 years before and can scarcely wrap your mind around it. The previous describes just a fraction of some of Vicky's travel experiences as a young person that has defined her lifelong interest in travel and the reason why exotic and fearless travel is her passion.As the founder of Destination: Uncharted, designing incredibly unique travel itineraries for people who dream to be immersed in authentic culture while on vacation is Vicky's primary goal. She has traveled the world – 28 countries and counting – and identified the best ways to visit countries in a way to that allows you to feel what it’s like to be a local.

Vicky's personal expertise has afforded her the skill set to figure out where to go, where to stay, how to get from A to B, and what to do along the way. She's always looking for ways to venture off the beaten path to find more intimate, local experiences. Imagine taking a cooking class, or having locals take you around to their favorite dining spots, offering you an immediate view of the destination from a different angle. Walking, taking the subway or renting a bike puts you on eye-level with local life, rather than observing from a motor coach.
