I grew up in Oregon but was always planning which exotic (at least compared to Salem, Oregon) place I would move to as soon as I was finished with school and had the resources to go. After graduating from travel school (and a local business college just for good measure), I was ready to conquer the world.
My first ‘exotic’ destination proved to be Hawaii, where I lived and worked (and played) for a period of time. This was followed with other ‘working’ adventures to France, Britain and then New York.
It was after that that I realized my dream of beginning a career in the travel industry, and it was such a good fit, we stayed together for a long time after that, and are still together today. Back then I spent a number of years based in both Los Angeles and New York, working for Australian- and New Zealand-based tour companies in a variety of roles – including outside sales, reservations, hotel representative and special interest groups - and loving every minute of it!
After two years working as the Regional Sales Manager for Australia’s largest inbound tour operator in New York, I accepted a transfer to their head office in Melbourne, Australia, working there for what was supposed to be two to three years. I immediately fell in love with Melbourne (and also this cute guy I met playing guitar in a pub..!) and more than 25 years later, they both still own my heart.
In 2016, my guitar player and I moved to Austin, Texas, re-establishing my American roots, indulging our love of live music, and opening a new chapter in my travel career.
Becoming a travel advisor feels like I’ve just found my new ‘best fit’! With a bucketful of years in the travel industry under my belt, both in Australia and the USA, I feel like I have so many unforgettable experiences and stories to create for travelers wanting to explore the wonders of those countries, as well as many others which I have had the pleasure of either visiting or selling as a destination. The world just seems to get smaller and smaller, so these days you can have several ‘trips of a lifetime’. I would like to help with that!
