Molly Nunnelly
I started my travel company in 2008 because my daughter moved to Australia! Of course, I wanted to visit her, so it was natural that I become a certified Aussie Specialist and share my Australian destination knowledge with other travelers. Subsequently, I expanded my certifications to include the 100% Pure New Zealand Specialist and South Pacific Specialist. I've visited every state and territory in Australia at least once and have been to New Zealand four times, and the South Pacific five times. Beyond that, I have been to Europe numerous times and can help you plan the perfect itinerary.
In 2020, before the pandemic, I was able to visit my 7th continent with a trip to East Africa, having marked off #6 to Antarctica in late 2019.
In my long-time career as a museum docent in my hometown of San Antonio, I realized I could share my love of art, history, culture, food, and wine with others by helping them to travel well. This led me to start Heirloom Vacations Travel Consulting, an independent affiliate of Travelwize, planning heirloom-worthy vacations for discerning travelers, as well as vacations for small groups.
Why You Should Use Me:
I am a lifelong learner on a mission of discovery and exploration- I am very education and culture-focused while keeping travel fun and active. I truly enjoy sharing art, history, and culture from around the world with travelers. I've been to over 28 countries, Antarctica-twice-and Svalbard (Arctic). love itinerary planning, and can't wait to discover new places and experiences. If you can book your trip on the Internet, you don't need me. If you want that personal touch and a customized itinerary, I can help.
My Specialties:
I have been to every state and territory in Australia, and cruised the famous Kimberely region from Darwin to Broome, which adds depth to my Aussie Specialist Training. I am also a 100% Pure New Zealand Specialist, with four trips there, as well as a South Pacific Specialist, with five trips to various islands.
I also love Europe, small ship and river cruises, and designing trips for independent travelers and small groups focused on art and culture, food, and wine.
I’ve done a lot of family travel – for a family wedding, we took 35 people on a cruise from Turkey to Athens. We organized private shore excursions and the captain actually performed the wedding on the ship.
My Favorite Travel Destinations:
I usually say my favorite travel destination is the next place! My recent trip to Antarctica and South Georgia Island has to be up there as an all-time favorite. Australia and New Zealand are at the top of my list, as are France and Italy. Collecting my 7th continent by visiting Africa was a true highlight and would love to return.
My “Wow” Travel Moments:
- Watching baby King Penguins search for their parents in the breeding colony on South Georgia Island
- Sunrise at Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia
- Snorkeling and swimming with reef sharks in French Polynesia.
- Make-your-own chocolate experience in Brussels, Belgium
- Swimming with whale sharks in Western Australia
- Breakfast with Giraffes at Giraffe Manor, Nairobi, Kenya
Special Moments For Clients:
For a small group, we organized an anthropology/history tour of the Yucatan. We booked our group on a fun cruise down to Cozumel and had a professor with us to do private tours of the ruins, and give interesting talks about the people and culture of ancient Mexico on board the ship. It was the perfect price point and people had a great time.
For a special event- we worked with the chef on board the Azamara Journey to create a special wedding cake that fit the theme of a wedding in the Greek Isles. The 35 members of the wedding party had a wonderful time on this cruise!
