Susan Whitson

As former White House press secretary to Laura Bush, Susan traveled the globe and experienced some of the world’s most beautiful and culturally rich places in 80+ countries on six continents and 49 US states (Nebraska still eludes her). Her strength is planning trips to emerging and off-the-beaten path destinations, including southern Africa, French Polynesia, the Middle East, and South America. Honeymoons, family vacations, and adventure travel are areas of expertise.

Susan has been named to Condé Nast Top Travel Specialist and Travel + Leisure's A List for her expertise in designing high security trips. Susan can smoothly execute complicated itineraries and balance the needs of clients and work with local governments to secure difficult to obtain resources (helicopters, special landing permits, security clearances). Itineraries are then timed to the minute so clients can maximize time on the ground and not lose valuable time getting from one place to the next.

Susan Whitson Travel supports and promotes responsible tourism, including investing in local communities. We believe transformative travel happens when travelers connect with the right people in authentic locations. Making travelers a temporary but active part of the community, instead of just a spectator, is a key part of our travel design. With these core elements, our desire is to design meaningful travel which surpasses client expectations and creates lasting memories beyond the moment.
